SAT 2017 Exam

SAT is conducted on behalf of the College Board by the ETS (Educational Testing Services). It is taken by students wanting to take up college education in United States and Canada. Over 1.7 million students take SAT exam every year.

 

 

SAT 2017 Test centres in India

In India, SAT is offered in the following cities- New Delhi, Bangalore, Calcutta, Cochin, Pune, Mussoorie, Kodaikanal, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai. Some of these cities have more than 1 centre. So, you need to choose your centre location according to convenience

 

SAT 2017 Scores

There are 3 scores reported for your SAT exam.

  • Verbal Score- Ranges from 200-800
  • Mathematics Score- Ranges from 200-800
  • Total Score – Ranges from 400-800

The scores are reported to a maximum of 4 universities of your choice by the College Board. The students specify these universities. In case you want to report your score to more than 4 universities- extra charges of $ 6.50 (Approx. Rs 420) per university is charged.

 

SAT Exam Eligibility

There is no specific elibility criteria that has been specified for SAT by the College Board. The candidate should have a valid Indian Passport and should be a student currently enrolled in a school.

 

SAT Exam 2017-18 Registration

The candidate needs a valid credit card that supports international currency.

To register the first step is to create a student account on the College Board Website.  The candidate would need to choose an exam date and centre also here. Make payment of the fee through a valid credit card & the registration process is complete.

 

 

SAT 2017-2018 Dates

Unlike other exams like GRE & GMAT, SAT has set dates on which it is held in India.  SAT is always held on a Saturday and the dates are set as such that you are well in time for all application deadlines.

The tentative exam date for SAT 2017-18 are

  • October 7, 2017
  • December 2, 2017
  • March 10, 2018
  • May 5, 2018

 

SAT Exam 2017-2018 Pattern

Effective March 2016, SAT pattern was changed which was a significant departure from the old pattern.

The main sections remain the same  - Reading/Writing, Mathematics and the optional Essay section.

The test duration is 3 hours 50 minutes. Candidates are allowed 2 breaks in the middle- one 10 minute break and the other 5 minute break. The candidate is expected to complete one section in one go. Switching sections back and forth is not allowed.
